Weave affects the way a sheet looks, feels and its overall durability. Plain weaves, such as Percale sheets, have an equal number of vertical and horizontal yarns woven together. Plain weave sheets are known for their longevity and crisp feel. Sateen sheet weaves are woven with more vertical than horizontal yarns. The higher number of vertical threads gives the sheet ultra softness. Twill weaves are yarns that are woven two over and one under to create a diagonal line on one side of the fabric. These linens tend to be soft and tend to hold their shape well. Jacquard and damask are weaves that have intricate patterns.

Construction

Polyester:Polyester is a fabric most people are familiar with, due to its common use in clothing. Polyester is a synthetic material and a form of plastic, making it generally inexpensive and extremely durable. It is also usually moisture-wicking, which can be a pro to hot sleepers. 

Blanket Cover
A blanket cover is a very lightweight decorative covering that is layered over a blanket, almost like a decorative top sheet. A blanket cover is often used on hotel beds as the outermost layer over a blanket, protecting the blanket so it won’t need frequent laundering. The fitted sheet, flat sheet, and blanket cover can be pulled off the bed and washed in a single load. Blanket covers are usually poly/cotton blends, requiring very little attentions; no ironing necessary. 

Thread count, ply, weave — what do any of these things even mean? We know you want your bedroom to be a comfortable and warm space to relax and wind down for the day. But with so many types of bed sheets to choose from (and all the jargon thrown around in the industry), it’s easy to give up and purchase a shabby pair that could work okay.
